To have the car prepared properly, based and clear coated with a quality product with a reputable shop budget $4K-$5K. Removing all of the pieces on the SPG and re-installing is lots of labor. I removed all pieces from my '89 Edwardian Grey SPG, including door handles, head and side marker lights, emblems, trim/molding pieces, grill, bumpers etc. sanded the car down to 600 grit and was quoted $2700. Since I have paint skills I decided to make the time and do it myself. Materials using the Dupont base/clear system costs about $500. The car really came out well. The only short cut if you can find a shop willing to spray a car not prepared by them is lots of personal time. Good luck!
