LED timing light?

I was interested in checking the timing on my recently acquired 92 900 turbo that has a no boost problem and the Bentley Manual recommends using a LED test light (timing light) in lieu of an incandescent type. I have seen plenty of led lights but no timing lights that use lED lights. The timing light that I have had for many years Powers from the battery and clips to the spark plug wire. Quite frankly I do not know what type of flash bulb it uses. Will it damage the tender electronics? I do remember looking at really old school tests of ignition circuits in Haines manuals of the 60s-70s and a light bulb was used to determine when the points opened and closed. Whats the deal? Is it time to invest in a new light? Thanks JK
