Saana88, When you get in there a visual inspection of the ring gear teeth may tell the story. That's your chance to check the backlash and preload too. The ideal backlash measurement (when new) is stamped in the ring gear and you could measure it to see if it's still close. A dye transfer test is often a good idea on these old gears.
I used to work at a Saab independant called G.A. Myles Automotive in St. Louis, Missouri (G.A. is my brother and a Saab Master Tech.). He retired and that shop is now called Neil's Automotive. I live in Silverton, Colorado now and work on C900s in my spare time. Cheers.
