Whining noise when clutch pedal is pressed down...

I hope I'm not beating a dead horse with this question, but I found a ton of posts on noises when the clutch is engaged (pedal not pressed down) versus noises when the clutch is disengaged (pedal pressed down).

What I hear is a whining noise when the pedal is pressed. It's loud enough to hear it oustide the car and inside the cabin with radio on. I can also feel it in the pedal, almost like the clutch is a cable system instead of a hydraulic one. It sometimes feels like rubbing. The sound stays constant until I let up on the pedal. I assume it's the original clutch (146K miles). Tranny shifts smoothly and has no other problems other than this.

Does this mean a new clutch is in order? Or is this something bigger?

If it's the clutch, I plan on replacing:
Pressure Plate
Clutch Disc
Slave Cylinder
Clutch Shaft Seal
Pilot Bearing
Rear Crankshaft Seal (while I'm in there)

Does that cover all the pieces to replace? Is it overkill?

Also, I had read a post regarding the high durability and quality of the oem pressure plate, and that it's a shame it is replaced while doing the clutch. Is this true? Should I save the bucks and skip replacing the pp?
