My '84 Turbo had the factory-installed "SAAB Guard" alarm, and had a small toggle switch between the seats (discreetly installed down low, sort of under the handbrake lever) that would defeat the motion sensor portion of the alarm.
That "SAAB Guard" alarm was pretty primitive: in order to prevent the alarm from going off you had to insert the key in the ignition and turn it to 'on' within 10 seconds of opening any door, or the alarm would go off. There was no provision for disarming the alarm from outside the car, as we now can do with key-fob remotes, etc. On my car someone had installed a fog light switch but wired it to allow you to turn off the alarm completely.
The alarm itself was a small electronic box located under the back seat. Might be that your car had it once, but someone removed it (which would be easy to understand because it was not a great alarm system).
