So, I spent a good part of the day rewiring and checking all the wiring for the stereo in my 91 900T. When I bought the car, the wiring harness clips had been clipped off to have an aftermarket stereo hooked up to it. So, I went to the junkyard and got all those parts and rewired them. I found out there is a fuse panel under the rear seat which had a bunch of busted fuses. I put the correct one in the correct hole for the stereo and voila!, nothing. I have two stereos, neither of which I have confirmed to be functioning, but nonetheless, still have two. I also found that someone had disconnected the alarm system at some point in a number of places...the horn was clipped (not the car horn, so must be an aftermarket alarm system. Then the clip into the back of the alarm module was removed too. I attached all that and found that when I clipped the stereo all in, I no longer had the alarm going off (lights flashing only due to no horn). I also found that I got the "popping" sound of the speakers turning on and off when I turned the dial of one of the two radios on/off. I got no static and no sound, but there is obviously power getting to the radio now to make that happen (right?). The problem here must also be that the stereos are not functional (right?). I checked all the fuses in and out of the stereos, wherever there are fuses and found them all to be fine. SO here is my final question: If I can get the speakers to pop, but no light and no sound from the stereo, then it must not work. BUT, why can I pop the speakers on and off with the switch on the stereo (and why did only one of the stereos make that happen?). I am convinced that just the stereo needs to be replaced to make everything function, but I thought I would get some input first. Also, do I really need the alarm hooked up to make the stereo work? I am not sure if it is aftermarket, but my Bentley says that the fuse for the stereo is also the fuse for the burglar alarm...
Any help would be very much appreciated...
