So I picked up this '86 900 turbo for a song. I'm hoping the song wasn't too off key....

I knew the front calipers were siezed. Those have been replaced, which took quite a long time (getting the frozen and rusted ones off) but the "new" used ones are fine. There's no pressure in the left front / right rear so I'm assuming the master cylinder is hosed. We bled it and it just didn't ever see good pressure. The right front / left rear calipers work fine.

Here are my questions, if anyone would like to offer suggestions:

1) Starts and runs extremely rough, will not hold idle even when you hold the accelerator in. Once it's warm it runs fine. Cold start valve?

2) There was no oil in the gearbox. I filled it. After running for about 10 minutes the gearbox oil started leaking like crazy from the rear area of the transmission in a steady stream. The car is at my father's house in a different state and we discovered this just as I was leaving for home, so I didn't get a chance to diagnose it. This one really scares me. Any ideas? Why would it not leak until it was up to temperature?

3) Upon warming up there is steam coming from the radiator, but it doesn't smell like coolant. There is coolant in the resevoir. I didn't have time this weekend to do a flush. I'm assuming it's just a bad radiator but could it be something else.

4) Neither the temperature gauge nor the fuel gauge work. I'm hoping the connector is just loose on the back of the instrument cluster. All other instruments (with the exception of the clock) work.

This car has 184k on the clock, a marginal interior, the AC doesn't work, nor does the 2nd cooling fan come on with the AC switch, and it's obvious someone has doctored with wiring since there's several plugs unplugged and wires hanging loose. Some are for speakers I think. The wiring doesn't scare me very much because it's always fairly easy to troubleshoot.

The other problems, especially #2 above really concern me. Please offer suggestions.
