Rear ended Posted by mag [Email] (#1906) [Profile/Gallery] (more from mag) on Sat, 7 Oct 2006 16:32:42 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Me and my 1986 900T were rear-ended while stopped at a red light. No warning like squealing tires, just WHAM! and we bounced into the next car in line. bam!
There's a neat imprint of her license plate numbers on my rear bumper.
It compressed the frame, mostly on the left side, buckling above the wheel well, and slightly on the right side, with a pucker at that wheel well. Something isn't right in the front, since the passenger door now binds with the hood.
This vehicle suffered the same accident once before (I gotta say, its dangerous to stop at red lights), and the frame was stretched and the dealer Bondoed the wheel well to my displeasure.
This time I'm concerned that stretching twice is stretching it once too many times. I'm thinking metal fatigue is the enemey of unibody integrity, and I want integrity in case I get rear ended at 65 mph on a foggy California highway.
Geez, I don't want a new car.
