central locking system question..

after I installed new plugs I moved on to somthing else,ive had a battery drain so I fixed up a test light hooked it up on the neg cable and on the neg post light came on so i pulled fuses and the light went out when i pulled the central locking fuse I put it back in and could hear a noise from the rear hatch so there must be a short but where to start? thanks john p.s the locking system has power all the time so , I pulled the cental lock fuse on my 88 and no moise.
