Lower control arm failed, advice + questions? Posted by kenS [Email] |
well, it finally happened to me ('87 900T, 182K), backed out of the garage this morning and CRACK!, followed by slight sinking at driver's side. I poked my head out and from the angle of the front wheel it was obvious what had happened. Got it back into the garage, onto jackstands---- the lower A-arm, back side had broken cleanly, doesn't appear to be any other damage (sway bar popped out of its end bushing, but looks ok). So the questions are: (1) should I go with a Scantech arm ($59) or a "OES" arn, ($220)? any problem w/ Scnatech quality?; (2) Pass side arm looks ok, but should I change that one out as a precaution? (3) I will change out the lower bushings--- is there anything else that needs to be looked at or upgraded while I'm in there? Ball joints are less than 1 yr old, they look fine.
