Actually, those are the same... Not sure why it didn't fit, but it should. It's the same part number for the fender back to 1986... I think the only difference back to the even earlier years are the spot for the side marker and the holes for the side molding. I test fit a front end from an 88 SPG to my 80 5-door, but opted to stick with the superior snub nose front end. :)
