The topic of this "Factory rebuilt" brings the question to mind; What is a factory rebuild in terms of what can a buyer expect?
I have had different experiences with "rebuilt" components ie. Bosch alternators, starters etc and in fact had a dealer install a SAAB factory automatic in my 92 900. When I asked the Dealer what exactly was done to this particular transmission, A rather vague answer was the response.
Basically I understood all components are evaluated and reused if they meet OEM specs?? What does this mean, especially if you are evaluating a transmission with potentially hundreds of thousands of miles on it.
It sounded like SAABs builders have a basic rebuild pack which has the common wear items.But now that many of these boxes have lots of time on the clock and may be entering the second overhaul phase what are now normal wear items?
Fellow SAABER CMYLES, It sounds like you have seen the full spectrum of rebuilds. What is the difference between say a Ericson overhaul and a SAAB factory rebuild and say a just a good SAAB indie that could rebuid one?Thanks JK
