Not playing the one-up game (no offence oldsaab) just want to clarify the year distinctions in Saab cloth contour seats (for S’s and turbo’s)
That style of cloth contour (residing in that over priced notchback) could be found in; 84/85 turbo’s or 86/87 S and turbo’s. Saab changed cloth contour seats for the S and turbo’s in 88 to a perpendicular stitching pattern (in the area of the contour). The base model kept the same style of cloth stitching for the rest of it’s 9 year run (83’ to 92’) and in 93 they did away with the base model, instead they offered two 900 S variations; sunroof S (leather and sunroof) or non-sunroof S (cloth… and you guessed it, no sunroof). I think 1992 was the first year the base model had a rear seat arm rest… or it may have been the 93 90s non sunroof. Too my knowledge the US only say S’ notchbacks (Europe… as usual had multiple variations)
Once again I just wanted to clarify some information… not to start some battling bulletin or “my bike is better than yours” match. I spent many a hot summer’s during high school and college working at an Indy repair shop stripping parts cars … funny what information we retain as we get old…
