All of the seven four doors I've owned, from the 1985 900's (model 924) to the 87 900S 16v have both the contour seats and a rear arm rest. EXCEPT the 87 8v four auto with blue waffle seats, crank windows, no sunroof, and no rear armrest. Maybe the solid white color is an indicator? The Ace of Base Models? Cheaper than Cheap? The Rose Quartz are an upgraded color with clear coat, had it on 1987's there are T model, S model, and base model (8v non turbo too), and all had the Maroon Cloth, contour, and rear arm wrest.
The rest of my cars, 87 900 not "S" with the 8v and crank windows, 87 900T vert, 1990 four door 16v, all of the convertibles, 9000's 1992 9000CDT auto (3 times), and 1995 9000CS, have came with the contour seats. I had a 1992 900 for a hot minute, crank windows, no sunroof, cloth contour seats. I'll have to look closer at the stiching part, never heard that part before. Was it supposed to help keep them from comming apart? If so it wasn't very successful...
No upsmanship here, just accurate information. thanks for the additional information! Tell me more about the stiching?
Now you have given me a new topic/task for when Scott fixes the members photos area that I blew up. Just mine, I did it, too long a nested file name...
So when It's up to snuff I will do more photo uploads and since it's such a nice day today will shoot the pictures now.
