haha....that's 0.050" roof flashing > Thicker metal than Saab originally used when they built the car. And you are right > I half-assed that repair, because I have to use the car to get to work later today. No worries though, as this is the fourth such repair on a C-900 I have done in that area. My virgin attempt at that repair on a 86T back in 2001 has lasted over 6 years thus far, and that one I didn't do anything but spray some black paint on it after the welding. This one will at least get treated with POR15 and seam sealed later today when I have more time. I suppose I should have broke out the sandblaster and weld-thru coating, but then again, I was just rushed to have the car ready to be drive.

The area is nothing short of a design flaw on Saab's part. They built a square tunnel that collects water and dirt. The dirt gets wet, and remains wet for a long time, causing rot. The driver side tunnel is in perfect shape, aided by the well-oiled crud that has collected there.
