Tyler,
Hope all's well and sorry to hear about your turbocharger problem!
A quick loss of turbocharger pressures as well as noises may point towards a more catastrophic failure of the rotating assembly and this may be beyond the scope of a simple overhaul/rebuild. The rotating assembly of the turbocharger may have come in contact with compressor/turbine housings which leads to excessive wear of either compressor/turbine wheels.
The head gasket may still be intact if the engine did not loose all coolant. We find that most engines allowed to loose all coolant at the cylinder head and expan. tank that immediately lead to cylinder head warping.
A standard rebuild could allow you to use a DIY kit to overhaul and a worst case scenario may lead to the purchase of a $400 cartridge assembly for the 60 sized T3 Garrett.
Best Regards and good luck,
GaryK at SWEDISH DYNAMICS,INC.
