Don't think it is a good idea Posted by Ari [Email] (#2847) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Ari) on Sat, 21 Jul 2007 20:01:27 In Reply to: AMM cleaner, saturn, Fri, 20 Jul 2007 22:34:42 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The active portion of the AMM is a piece of platinum wire. Each time the engine is shut down, the wire heats up to about 1000 degrees C (1800+ F). And that burns off just about anything that can come by. So I don't know what could resist that, but succumb to a spray.
The issue with AMMs is that the circuit board (which isn't in the airflow) eventually corrodes up, and the AMM doesn't work as well. I can't recommend any way to fix that, other than to replace the AMM.
I'd want to keep it off the circuit board, and it wouldn't work on the hot wire. So I don't think it would be of any use.
