I've used the CRC AMM cleaner mostly to clean the throat of the AMM, not the sensor wire. The other "maintenance" area I've worked on in the AMM is the connections on the harness to the car. Green is a good color for money... but not on the metal contacts! sometimes a very diluted lime away followed by.... yep, the AMM cleaner to neutralize the stuff and get it off the contacts. a small file and using the end of it to scrape, and making a file from a metal guide found on the wiper refills works for the female portion of the connector. my buddy the Saab Master turned me on to that one. get a length of the metal support (there are two) that is used in supporting the wiper refills, cut the end off to make it full width (the ends have that keyed cutout to fit the rubber), then using a small sharp file, make lines across the narrow portion of the strip, you are making it rough to make a very small file. use this to push into the female portion of the connector. It's only just a little bit thicker than the male contact so it does *not* bugger up the connector, just roughs up the contact surface to knock off the green stuff. If you have green on the male side you will have green on the other side of the connector too.
