The outer CV boots that come on some of them are not especially good. A couple of people have recently mentioned that the boots on relatively new rebuilds that they got from a reputable supplier who advertises on TSN tore after a fairly short time.
My own recent experience is that the outer boot on a rebuilt axle I bought lasted less than a year.
If you buy a rebuilt axle (and you do your own work) you may also want to buy a replacement boot and put it on right away. That way, you'll also be able to fill the CV with a good quality Moly CV joint grease and kill two toads with one stone.
