yes, pull the plugs *first*, maybe shoot a bit of oil, not much, in the top of each plug hole, and crank with the starter. this should also cause the gas to be injected into the pistons as well, you would be able to smell it and possibility see it ejected from the plug holes too.
Drain and change the coolant, same with the engine oil. on the manual transmissions there really isn't a spec so consider after you get them running and warmed up doing an oil change then (this is 5 speed I'm talking about). And if you want to be really completely safe, after you get the engine warmed up, drain and change the oil and filter again. look at the oil, both color and contents, if it comes out looking like new then you are most likely ok.
You may also want to consider changing the thermostat and temp senders out of hand.
put in new gapped plugs, check the condition of the rotor and contact points on the cap, clean or replace as needed, change the air filter, check the wires for contact in the cap and you should be good to go.
depending upon what you are going to do with the working ones you could use the air filter and other bits from one to the next to check them out. note that the wires on the NA and the turbo (all 16V engines) may not line up the same on the distributor depending upon year. Mark everything, take pictures, and remember if you have a Bentlety that the picture of the wires on the cap is INCORRECT and bites somebody monthly...
Also the first and second rule (if you haven't already been told or figured it out) of trouble shooting a Saab 900 is check your vacuum lines are not leaking, cracked, and are in fact attached! And the second rule is be sure you completely followed the first rule! lol
then you should be able to fire them up!
