give me your weirdest vacuum leaks....please! Posted by Saabu [Email] (#1133) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Saabu) on Thu, 13 Sep 2007 20:53:45 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
my 87 SPG is really challenging me. the two obvious symptoms are engine rpm dropping to about 300 and then up again, when i take my foot off the gas. in cold weather i'm quite sure the engine will be stalling in that scenario.
the other symptom is that on acceleration i can almost hear boost being lost somewhere.
I am also having problems with my APC system - its sending sporadic voltage to the APC solenoid, sometimes immediately on turn of the key, other times it takes a few minutes and suddenly the APC clicks.
Could a blown APC or a non-energized APC create a vacuum leak? i believe so, if the solenoid is allowing air into the wastegate at low rpm, that effectively is a vacuum leak.
I just had the dash off while replacing the 20 year old cassette deck and blower motor and checked all vacuum connections and lines behind the dash and the only thing i found was one of the vacuum lines was twisted and almost pinched off going into the unit next to the pressure switch.
i've of course checked the hooter valve and its fine.
any bright ideas anyone?
