I agree, a ton of Saabs have the alternator grounded there, but that isn't where it's supposed to be. Check the Bentley book and the factory manual - the proper location is on the alternator mount. Putting it there means you don't have to futz with it when moving the A/C compressor (wiper motor R&R, water pump R&R, AC R&R), and it's a giant PITA to deal with when you do end up removing that alternator bracket - it's tougher to align, and it takes up valuable space your wrench needs to use.
As for a tool on that hex bolt, I find a ratcheting box wrench works great - takes seconds to remove.
