I had no trouble with my 87 oil cooler hoses.

Mine were seeping along the spiral seams of the jacket. I replaced with OEM parts...IIRC they were about $120. Each.
They didn't strip because the fittings were not aluminum as I recall.
These are not AC condenser fittings which I HAVE had problems with.
Of course, YMMV. But I never even considered the possibility of stripping the fittings.
OTOH, it may well be less expensive to replace the hoses with aeroquip kevlar-braided hose. You can get it by the foot and do it yourself...I would try to get a swagelok or some fitting from the aeroquip dealer that clamps the hose onto the stock saab pipe. Alternatively, you might be able to take your hoses to the aeroquip dealer and they can install/crimp new hoses onto your fittings.
