I finally got my car in and had my mechanic to remove and clean the governor. He put in "Super Automatic Transmission Fluid, For use in most Ford and GM vehicles" It's made by Phillips/Conoco/76. I don't know if it's dextron or not, actually. I know the car is supposed to have FA but my mechanic showed me in his book that this stuff is supposed to be okay on C900s. It shifts flawlessly even when cold (the original problem), although I've only driven it a mile or two. I'm looking at the empty bottle he gave me and it says "not for use in Ford or GM transmissions that require Type F (along with several others)". So the question is if this will ruin my transmission and what should I do now? What's going to happen if I drain it and put the F type in, can they be mixed? My mechanic has been really great on Saabs and everything else (he worked on most of my cars when I was a dealer), and he's worked on C900s for years (but isn't a Saab specialist). In addition he charged me less then the actual time he put into it--the governor was a little trickier than antiscipated. HELP!
