RS,
That's 8 mm diameter by 1.25 mm pitch. For a five speed try about 2 cm of length (less head). About 10-13 mm long for an automatic. These are often a problem and I suggest that you clean the holes well and measure the depth, then add the thickness of the bracket at the holes, less a couple of mm, to be sure about the bolt length. One case hole is usually slightly deeper than the other too. Finally check the threads by screwing the bolts in without the bracket to be sure that they'll go in OK. You may find that the holes in the case are stripped as often happens with these. You can heli-coil them but lots of cars are running around without that bracket and it doesn't seem to matter much. Good luck
