I'm thinking the problem is with the key ignition but let me give a little bit of what I'm experiencing,

the key is inserted and turned to the on position, where everything here is fine, light come on, radio, ect.
its when i try to start the car, when the key is turned to start position the motor doesnt,
turning the key back to on then to start a few times will ultimately gets the motor to start.
do i have a short in the ignition, faulty unit, dirty, can i pour some denature down the key hole?

on a side note, when the key is turned to the start position with nothing happening if the key is held in this position for 10 sec. or so the starter will engage, this dose not happen every time but between turning it on and off and holding the key in the start position the car eventually starts.

this started happening not more then 2 weeks ago where the first incident happened, this is a area i have not journeyed into. has anyone had a similar problem that could be so kind as to tell what the fix was.
