This SPG panel (between front door and front wheel) can be popped onto the car... don't try and slide it on, it can be done, but it doesn't work well as the wheel arch flairing interferes too much, and even if you get it slid on, you will slightly tweak the panel so that a wavy area is visible on the most visible upper front portion of the panel. Been there done that.
Here's best way:
1) Raise / jack car up (this is so you get more clearance for step #4)
2) Secure bottom of panel. Make sure the panel is centered front-rear
3) Now the panel will be secured on bottom and "hanging" at the top.
3) Using the inside of your wrist, bang upwards sharply and fairly hard on the bottom of the panel. The area to hit is the slightly rounded portion on the bottom edge of the panel. The idea here is to then POP the top lip of the panel onto the mounting rail.
I just did this in November on my 90 SPG.
It is sometimes a bit of a pain to do, but it does work. It becomes much more difficult if you are collision-repairing or adding panels and rails on a car that did not originally have them.
