Keep in mind that if this is the original transmission to this car it is a T-35 and a museum piece. There are very few of those around, it was only put in the Saab 900 in '79 and early '80 (as I recall) and then the T-37 took over. You can fix every leak that transmission could have without pulling it out except for the torque converter to pump seal or a leak between the main case and front case and I don't recall ever seeing one leak at that joint. I would recommend that you clean it in place and then watch for the actual source of the leak(s). You could put some dye in the ATF and use a black light if needed. It sounds like a lot of work but it's nothing compared to pulling the unit and putting it back. As the other post said, the most common leaks occur at the pan gaskets but there are also side and front cover gaskets and the whole ATF cooling circuit which is a very common source of leaks on cars this old. Usually when the torque converter to pump seal goes a lot of ATF is flung around in the bell housing and it's pretty evident if viewed while running. You must separate the cases to fix that. Cheers
