How much of the 9000 system do you have? If you have the radio, eq, connecting cable and the baskets that slide in the dash, you can put any 1986-1991 9000 radio setup in any 1984-1991 900.
1984 is about when Saab standardized on the pair of 10-contact connectors in the dash, one for power & lighting, the other for speakers.
In 1992, the system was similar, but the rear speakers were driven by an external amplifier under the back seat. This requires cable to connect the amp to the head unit. The amp has three equalization settings on it. One for the 900 CV, one for the 900 sedan/hatch and one for the 9000.
The 1992-1993 system was the last and best of the Saab-Clarion systems. In 1994, the 9000 got the "Harman Kardon" system, which is really still a Clarion system. But even that can be installed in a 900 with enough dedication.
