KID,
make sure that the air mass meter cable is connected. How did it run when you first got it? has any work been done on it since you acquired it? Has someone "tuned it up" lately and re-set the ignition timing and replaced the spark plugs maybe? With almost anything but the OEM recommended NGK plugs you are fighting a losing battle. Cars are generally harder to start in cold weather but C900s are more reliable than most. If you are going to troubleshoot and maintain a classic 900 yourself then you should get a Bentley manual and timing light. The most common type of problem is a loose or disconnected wire almost anywhere in the injection or ignition systems (including a bad ground connection) or a problem with induction; major vacuum leak, induction boot split or loose, etc. Actual component failure; ECU, AMM, Hall sensor, etc., is second on the probability list. Put another way: You could replace every ignition component in the car and THEN discover that the air mass meter cable is disconnected and that's all that was wrong, so check the basic stuff first. The little black ground wires near the thermostat housing are all very critical to injector function and often ignored or over looked when someone does work in there, so check those. Keep us posted.
