Last fall the 87 vert is finally doing fine, cruise is working, turbo boosting into red , heat and A/C working fine. The wife and I are cruising backroads, stopping at vineyards, top down, 31 mpg, life is good.
So then I decide to do some winter maintenence, replace clutch master, oil up that sticky steering shaft u-joint, replace broken left air vent flapper door. Got all that done & put the dash back together.
Three months later I go for a test drive to ensure all is well and find the cabin heat will not shut off and the cruise has failed. Damn.. this stuff was workin fine last fall. So I pull the left speaker grill and sure enough, I had somehow dislodged the heater control valve linkage arm during winter maintenence. So I tried to push it back on to the heater control valve shaft and... SNAP... I broke the shaft off of the control valve. So... out comes the drivers seat, console, lower bolster, heat duct, etc, so I can pull the heater core and replace the control valve assembly. DAMN the CONTINUUM, I'm getting too old for this. But oh well, its a classic Saab 900 and worth the effort. On the bright side, the cruise problem appears to just a disconnected speed sensor on the back of the cluster. Thanks for letting me vent.
