Do I sell it or store it? Opinions welcome.
My 1993 900S (2.1 NA, MT, 3-door) with 136k has become the third car in a two-driver family. We no longer need the car -- it had been my daily driver -- and I am wondering if I ought to part with it or hold onto it.
Overall the car is in very good shape. It runs and drives very well and all of the major mechanical stuff is in excellent running order – engine, manual tranny, clutch, brakes. It looks good too, Plantana Gray over gray leather.
It needs minor work than could be done pretty inexpensively, e.g., a window regulator, an exhaust hanger adjustment, the heated seats… It is not cosmetically perfect on the interior. The headliner is pinned up, the front seat bottoms are coming unstitched but are not torn, and there are dash cracks. It has some rust on one part of the hood and in the battery tray area. There are a couple of small oil leaks that are probably pretty straightforward too.
I have nowhere to store the car so holding on to it means I would incur some storage expense at an as-yet undetermined location. It would be great to pass it on to my son, but his driving days are a dozen years away! Still, I feel pretty sure that if I let it go, there won't be another one in my garage for a very long time, if ever. I do like the car. It's just that I need it a thousand times less than I used to.
I am curious to hear the thoughts of anyone else who has faced a similar decision. Thanks in advance for the input!
