I'm afraid I have to agree. If you save it for your kids, there's a pretty good chance they won't want it. God knows what cars will be like 12 years from now. The cars we love could be thought of as the AMC Pacers to future generations.
I also agree with the deteriation-in-storage comments. When I was 12 I talked my dad into buying an Opel GT. He was looking for a sports car and I just loved those little cars. When I became of driving age, he never let me drive it. Last year he gave it to my 16-year-old son. It has 38K miles on it (it's a 1973). It is undriveable past 40mph. It shakes so violently that your teeth rattle. It's going to take some time and money for us to restore it to the point where I feel my son would be safe driving it. If you have to pay to store it and pay to restore it in 12 years that could become one expensive Saab 900.
