Yes, as long as you use good quality bearings (SKF, FAG, etc.) you can change those without the need to re-shim. I used to replace those and then check the preload and backlash (which is what the shims determine) and they were always well within the tolerance, (so eventually I quit checking). This may seem elementary but change both parts of the bearing, if one is bad they both are. If you lack a bearing press you can get those inner races off by carefully destroying them with a cutting wheel on a die grinder and a cold chisel or a welding torch. The trick is to not hurt the differential. Make sure that the new bearings get fully seated. Good luck
