actually your 91 should be exactly the same.... maybe Posted by nicknick [Email] (#731) [Profile/Gallery] (more from nicknick) on Thu, 24 Apr 2008 21:20:15 In Reply to: You older 900 has a diff setup on the line then mine .., NOSNAAB, Thu, 24 Apr 2008 20:30:05 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
put the pcv up near the head, which is where all mine sit, but it makes no difference. austin has a couple of different hoses that go elsewhere, but the pcv is standard.
it should be tight on the fittings, just like all vac connections, otherwise you will have a vac leak....
lack of pcv would not make any idle difference, as there will always be a small amount of positive pressure from the 'breathing' of the engine-worse if rings are bad.
the problem occurs under boost, where positive pressure is being forced into the head, and oil leaking out is the result. classic case is burning oil smell after heavy boost sessions, where oil was forced out of the valve cover gasket onto the exhaust. worse is pushing out the front (crank pulley) seal, which is irreversable without pulley removal...
so go get a generic one way valve from napa or sim and get that sucker in there!
