Your kick-down cable "could" be broken and you will need a pressure gauge for this repair. Flush the fuild and replace with type"F" auto. fluid. Also, add one bottle of "Lucas" brand automatic trans. conditioner to the trans. I've added a bottle each time I change my trans. fuild and everything shifts much smoother. Be patient, since the additive is very thick and takes awhile to add. Get a new pan gasket, filter screen and filter O-ring before you add new fluid. If you drive your automatic carefully, you can get many miles out of them. I'm almost at 200.000miles on both my 91-92/900 auto. trans.
