I have three of these silly cars...the 94 TC and the wife's 89 900S run smooth. My 87 900S daily driver idles kind of rough and vibrates (compared to the other two). Over the past twenty years(yikes!) I have tried numerous things to minimize the vibration...seems like general maintenance, i.e., using the proper plugs, keeping the air idle control pump clean, using the correct spark plug sires and the such help a lot. My local Saab guru believes rough idle is somewhat inherent in the engine control system. Guess the early 2.2 self-adjusts the timing. But at 300,000 and going strong (with 34 MPG freeway) what the heck, I love the thing.
