I was sort of thinking of this just this morning, driving past the park on a lovely summer morning with the top down, and trying to figure out how I was going to be able to keep doing that when gas goes to $300/gallon or simply becomes unavailable. Electric conversion came to mind. I guess for me a 30 mile range and a 60mph top speed would do it, since my commute has a highway section. 40mph would probably be enough around down.

I think a nearly silent car with the top down would be wonderful.
