There's easy DIY stuff. These belts are not an easy task and there are lots of frustrations, plus subtleties to doing it, such as how tight is properly tight, that pros who have done it a lot get right, and that the rest of us, even ones good with wrenches and not banging our knuckles, slip up on.

If there's a local Saab independent that has done this before, that's where to go.

You definitely want to replace BOTH of the alternator-water pump belts. Saab tells us they're a matched pair and sells them two in one package. That's so one won't be slipping when the other one is set just right.

As to the others, if they haven't been slipping and are good quality you might choose not to replace them. Saab OEM belts last a very long time.
