Agree, not difficult, but time-consuming. In order to gain my wife's permission to allow me to do this, I agreed to only work on it in the evening after the kids went to bed at 9 pm. This broke the work up into a lot of small parts, and was relatively inefficient - I'd guess I spent 40-50 hours doing the job, but I probably spent an excessive amount of time thinking and planning about what I'd do next, and of course wasted a lot of time changing into work clothes and cleaning up, etc. On the other, I approached the whole thing very causally anyway, due to the circumstances (I have an extra vehicle, so there was no rush).
I think the estimate of about 24 is spot on. Having done it once, I think I could do the whole job in a long weekend if I needed to (and assuming I had everything I needed on hand at the start). Separating the AT from the engine (lining up the flex disk) was the only really tricky part, but just search under my name to solve that one. I highly recommend the Eriksson industries rebuilt tranny. For recent experiences, you should also search under Nick Nick's posts - we were doing the job at the same time.
