Or if you're more enterprising you can pull the knee bolster and floor vent ducting so the tool falls right down to the floormat. Ask me how I know.
I will attempt this with my '88 sometime soon. Judging from the fittings on the back of the "wall of sh/fame" cluster from our '85, I'll want to use a quarter-inch-drive socket and my favorite flexible extension. This looks like a normal drive extension but it's made out of some kind of flexible wire mesh. If you see one for sale, I suggest you get one!
Does your fuel gauge flutter as well?
