weird engine problems 900T16

I bought a 1989 900 T16 which was running not very well. No stable acceleration and it was idling badly. I cleaned the AIC valve without result. It needed adjustment of the timing of the chain (one tooth), with the following result (after adjusting the ignition to 16 degrees):
• the engine is idling OK now
• acceleration is more stable (but not 100%)
• max turbo boost dropped from touching the red zone to 60% in orange
• idling at 1300 RPM now and cannot get it lower (I replaced all vacuum hoses and fixed 2 leaks, no result)
Oh, it's a US Saab which has been imported to Europe, where the instruments have been changed by a set of European ones of 1984. Which means that the 'check engine' light is not there. The fuse of the lambda sensor was gone, replacing it did not change the engine's behavior. Also a new lambdasensor did not.
Anyone an opinion about my operation and how to get things OK again?
Thank you all!
Harry
