I took mine out at first too, but it took about 3-5 seconds to get any washer fluid out, and whatever was on the windshild would be smeared worse than before. So I fixed them and put them back on.
If you can tolerate the multi-secong lag, you should be fine. On the otherhand, they are cheap, and easy to fix (although I've never had mine pop apart like yours). I liked mine so much I installed them on my boat's windshield washer system (begin poking fun here), but I am a gadget kind of person.
