Yes and I have read posts where people spliced and shrink wrapped, but I found out I could use a plug from a head light wiper moto and plug in. I thought it gave me abetter option. In the event I made a mistake I could just swith the bayonet or plug tpye wire connectors around and not have to re connect , solder, or shrink wrap. I am not certain of your colors match up, but your idea should work fine. Just done strip the braded copper shielding too far back. Good luch and the ONLY problem you might have is if you set the "new " distributer in place 180 degress out. Do what ever bentley says but find you r # 1 plug wire and tap your starter with fuel pump fuse out (no need to wash cly walls down). Until you get time marks to ) degees and rotor pointing to #1 plug wire. Use same cap, place your "new" dist in place with rotor in same position. It helps to have a paint make on the old distributer body and a identically positioned pain mark on the "new" dist body that alighs with a paint mrk where the dist mounts into the engine mounting hole. Then adjust with light. Of course remember the fuel pump fuse. Should be zooming soon. Frank
