Dear SAAB family: am chasing my tail and needing some direction on replacing my '85 c900 3dr i've had since '94. it's been good to me, but it's got some bodywork issues coupled with my "repair fatigue". Am 32 and cannot afford to have my loved but aging old red girl anymore. And i've had an affair with an audi A4 for a couple years now overseas. Kinda interested in the 9-3 turbo-x but military dealer couldn't get one, and frankly i don't think it's a $45k car. The audi on the other hand has been a dream: powerful, smooth, quiet, interior a pleasure to even just sit in. I feel guilty, but think it's right in the long term. Problem is, how do u replace a versatile, decent fuel economy, fun to drive (if old and slow) c900 with anything??? Tough task.
Here's what i "need":
- family capacity for 3-5 small persons (lol!)
- enjoy driving it to work or trips
- also will need sooner or later a pickup for lumbar, outdoor sports, etc
Also "want" either a motorcycle or 2 seat convert (i think GM shoulda let saab build the gxp solstice, it screams "sonett" to me, but... maybe some other year)
To date, am looking at letting my dear old saab go (i know, hard to even fathom doing that...), getting an audi sport wagon, beat to death old pickup for occasional use, and a motorcycle. But that's three darn vehicles, there's gotta be a more efficient way to do this. Plus the sport wagon sucks up gas like a pickup. Sigh... why can't i buy a new, more powerful, no age-related issues c900... and an old pickup and call it a day?
