Why not get a 9-5 wagon (new or used) and a roof rack. They're a little bigger than the 9-3. It would probably handle 99% of your needs. On those rare occassions it won't, rent a truck or have the stuff delivered. It would be a lot cheaper than keeping an old pickup running. Four snow tires on rims will get you through 90% of what an all-wheel drive will and if the weather is that bad your probably ought to stay home. I used to sell Audis and they are delighful cars in a lot of ways, but there's absolutely no way I'd own one that wasn't under full factory warrenty. The repair bills on them will make a grown man cry. When I got out of the car business the only car I had left was my '93 900 TC. My intension was to buy something else right away but a year came and went and I just didn't feel the need. With a little ingenuity I was about to do eveything I needed to, including move to a new house. We just put the top down and loaded it up like it was a pickup tuck. We hauled potted trees, rolled up rugs and step ladders. My point is there is no perfect vehicle that will do eveything-there's always some compromise. There's very little you can't do with a Saab if you put your mind to it.
