C900 clutches are quite easy to repair once hood is removed, although turbo plumbing on your car is an interference. Floppiness in clutch pedal may be due to unconnected/missing return spring on pedal which is easily reconnected. An enlarged pedal yoke where pin attaches pedal to master cylinder (MC) piston or broken spring internal to MC is another possible reason for floppiness. Fix is new MC. Crunching and resistance to gear engagement is common when tranny is cold until lube circulates. If it continues after warm-up, then would check for low tranny lube. Synthetic tranny lubes generally shift better than 10W30 mineral oil which was the factory fill. Everyone has their favorite: Redline MTL, BG SynchroShift II, Honda MTL, etc. Stay away from sulfury gear oils which are corrosive to brass tranny parts. Examination of the bottom of the oil catch pan and drain plug magnet generally indicates state of tranny. Hard metal chips stuck to magnet or thin pieces of roller bearing cage suggests need for tranny overhaul/replacement. To check clutch hydraulics, put a block of wood to hold pedal on floor and see if slave holds clutch spring diaphragm compressed. If not look for leakage around slave (including inside slave rubber bellows) and at crimps on flex portion of hydraulic line. If no leakage there and clutch springs back, then MC probably is leaking. However, clutch dragging can be caused by disc that won't slide on splined clutch input shaft, a disc that is too thick, or a sticking pilot bearing in flywheel. Other things to check are a worn out rubber shift coupler joint at firewall. Also loose cap around stick shifter ball held by three machine screws. Also gear selector shaft from stick shifter should rotate as one moves the stick shifter from left to right in neutral position. If not, a bushing is shot on front of console. Also loose motor mounts can cause shifter alignment problems.
