I take the smiles per tank and divide by the monthly payment then multiply by the number of new cars vanquished on the freeway *and* giving me a surprised look when that happens... priceless!
but seriously, yes you should fill that tank to the top (irregardless of the capacity) drive until you want to fill it up for what ever reason, note the total miles driven since the last fill-up and divide miles per gallon.... so if you drove 300 miles on the tank, and needed 10 gallons to fill it to the brim... 300/10 = 30miles/gallon or MPG would be the number.
