In my experience, no it won't run too lean. Personally I have found the red box to not be noticebaly different than a stock apc box. The stock box is easily tweaked (even without the soldering iron). The red box is pretty though. For a real increase, find a professionally modified apc box. See performance board. I sold my SPG with lots of mods, Group 6 apc box, redtop injectors, AID ignition module, an assortment of different fprs and in my experience, the rising rate fpr was almost impossible to adjust properly. Its pretty old school. The 3.0 bar yielded scary performance (over 20 lbs of boost almost instantly!) but stunk up the neighborhood under "normal" driving and was really hard on tires. Lots of fun but too rich! The 2.5 bar produced a more linear throttle response but nowhere the same kick in the pants. (16 lbs of boost). Since you probably haven't driven your SPG with the stock setup anyway, I'd say you would be safe in going with the 2.5 bar.
