update some engine components to save future cost and challenges as it is much easier to do with the engine out:
* water pump
* alternator bushings (possibly alternator if high mileage)
* oil pump seal and rear main oil seal
* valve cover gasket, distributor o ring
* all belts
* any suspicious looking hoses
* all vacuum lines
* check front end upper and lower bushings, replace if dried out or loose
* check idler pulley replace if sloppy or bearing questionable
* check engine compression, replace head gasket if needed or if you have 200,000 miles on engine
* consider a 5 speed swap, upgrade seals, gaskets, slave as needed
* auto tranny; change fluid, put in a new torque converter seal, drop tranny pan and clean filings from internal magnet
In for a penny, in for a pound! This will unquestionably save you a future of repairs and give you a worry free ride for some time to come
PS did I forget anything folks?
